Setup Quick Setup parameters and reports – Vic Curriculum reports only

Only for Accelerus Full schools

It is not necessary to do all the steps in this article at the beginning of the semester, especially if you are intending to produce other non-Quick Setup reports prior to this, e.g. term 3 reports. Only do this step if you want to set up your end of semester reports now. Otherwise, do so when you are ready to set these up via Quick Setup.

You cannot use your Victorian Curriculum templates from semester 1 as all of the Victorian Curriculum assessment items are uniquely coded for each semester – you must go through their setup via Quick Setup. 

Where .dotx template parts are used

If your school uses .dotx template part files to produce semester reports from Quick Setup:

  • If the dotx files used are the same as those from semester 1 nothing further needs to be done, because the dotx templates will already be in Accelerus.

OR

  • If changes are required to the dotx files:
  1. Go to Management > Process Reports.
  2. Select the current report run and click on Tmp. Parts.
  3. Download the .dotx files you want to make changes to.
  4. Make changes to the .dotx template parts, as required.
  5. Upload these new and changed template parts back in Accelerus:
    1. From Management, click the Process reports tile and select the correct report run.
    2. Click Tmp. Parts in the toolbar at the top
    3. On clicking Upload, select the .dotx files that are new or modified and upload them.

NB Changes to template parts affect ALL report runs and not just the current report run.

Create a new Quick Setup instance

NB   Special schools, Primary schools and Secondary schools only require one Quick Setup instance, but if your school is a mainstream school that has both Primary and Secondary year levels, you will need to follow these steps to create two Quick Setup instances, one for Primary and one for Secondary.

Creating Quick Setup

  1. In Accelerus, go to Management and click the Quick Setup tile.
  2. Create a new Quick Setup instance by clicking the Add icon.
  3. Enter a unique name, e.g. 2020SEM2.
  4. In the Report Run field, from the dropdown list, select the report run with which you want to associate the Quick Setup instance. This is usually your main semester 2 report run.
  5. From the Structure dropdown, select the structure you wish to use:
  6. In the case of Government special schools, this will be Primary 2025 Victorian Curriculum.
  7. If a mainstream Government school, select the appropriate one of a Primary or Secondary Victorian Curriculum structure for the current year.
  8. Click Save.
  9. In the Parameters of the Quick Setup window, enter 2 as the semester number and click Save.
  10. Generally Quick Setup requirements are similar from semester to semester, and you may rollover these from a previous semester, rather than have to setup from scratch. If this applies to you, close down the Quick Setup window and go to the Rollover step.

OR

  • If you want to set up from scratch, continue to the next step.

Set up Quick Setup selections from scratch

If you are setting up Quick Setup from scratch this semester, once you have created the Quick Setup instance:

  1. In Accelerus, via the Quick Setup window, enter your requirements for each of the settings in the Parameters tab.
  2. Add the subjects to be included in the Quick Setup window, by clicking the Include icon in the toolbar.
  3. For each subject, select the type of report, e.g. Full, Sum, etc, filling right and left, as appropriate, if required.
  4. Make your selections of learning areas (A / R / S) and, if applicable, text box fields required (A / R), so that the selections appear purple.
  5. Click Save.

Rollover over a previous Quick Setup

Often the subjects and Quick Setup selections from the last semester or from semester 2 last year will be similar to your requirements for the current semester. Therefore, rather than having to make all your selections from scratch, you may copy over those from a previous Quick Setup.

  1. In Accelerus, go to Management > Rollover.
  2. Select Quick Setups in the left panel.
  3. Select the Quick Setup you wish to copy from.
  4. Select the current year Semester 2 Quick Setup in the To field.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Check the Pre-process messages.
  7. To proceed with the rollover, click Next.
  8. Reopen the Semester 2 Quick Setup via Management > Quick Setup.
  9. Make any changes to the Parameters tab, if needed.
  10. Make any changes to the subjects and/or selections that have been copied over, e.g. add selections for the Victorian Curriculum areas, include extra subjects or exclude subjects not required; change A, R and S selections, etc.
  11. Once finished making selections, click Save.
Special schools should:
·         Select Non as the type for all of their subjects, i.e. they are non-reported subjects.
·         Only have +A appearing for every strand they want teachers to assess.

Build the Quick Setup

  • Once finished making selections in the Quick Setup window, click the Build icon and wait until the build has been completed.
  • At any time, come back into Quick Setup to make changes to selections, e.g. to remove or add curriculum areas, etc, clicking the Build icon to rebuild these changes.

All schools should take great care when making changes to Quick Setup selections once teachers have begun entering results as you may inadvertently delete their results. For example, changing the type of report from Full to Part may result in fields being deleted.
