Recommended security practices for all XUNO users

This article is for anyone using XUNO, either using a Web or mobile browser, or the XUNO Staff or Family App.

Note: If you are a staff member at a school that uses XUNO, please follow your school's IT security policy. These are general recommended security practices for use in addition to any other policy you are required to adhere to.

Recommendations to optimise security for your XUNO account

  • If you are signing in using your Username and Password, turn on XUNO's 2FA (two-factor authentication) and set a validation frequency. You can set up XUNO's 2FA by using the Options menu and then clicking on the Security menu item. See the related articles on setting up Two-Factor Authentication for staff or parents/carers and students linked below.
  • If you are signing in using Microsoft or Google SSO, turn on Microsoft Account 2FA or Google Account 2FA.
  • Do not share your account details with anyone else, and do not allow others access to your computer if you are logged in to XUNO.
  • Use a unique email address in XUNO. Try not to share email addresses, even in the same family. Note that the email address in XUNO can only be changed by contacting the school office.
  • Use a secure password that is not easy to guess. XUNO passwords must contain at least 8 characters, including a capital letter, a numeral and a special character.
  • Log off when you are not using XUNO on a computer and ensure your mobile devices (with XUNO Staff or Family app) require authentication before they can be accessed.
  • If you suspect that your account has been compromised, reset your password and contact your school XUNO Administrator urgently. You can reset your password using the steps in this article.
